DiMarzio Launches New Drop-In Wiring Options

4-WAY TELE^® WIRING HARNESS

Our prewired drop-in Tele® control plate with a 4-way switch adds another level of improvement to the sound and feel of a DiMarzio pickup upgrade. It all starts with the choice of a .022uf Sprague orange drop capacitor added to our DiMarzio-designed custom taper pots. This assembly makes upgrading your Tele® seamless and requires minimal soldering.

Our pots were first built over 45 years ago, and we wanted them to have the smooth feel and graduated taper found on some vintage 50s guitars. Using a 10-step rotary switch, we created a taper that works with DiMarzio pickups. It’s neither a linear nor audio taper pot -- it's DiMarzio's custom taper. To further increase reliability, we make the center shaft and threaded parts from solid machined brass instead of cheap castings.

We’ve sound tested dozens of capacitors from various suppliers too, and our winner is clear: the Sprague.

All wiring is done with cloth-covered vintage style 22-gauge push back wire, making all the final connections easier. DiMarzio prewired circuits are all hand assembled and tested in the USA, and each one features the best sound-tested parts available

SG^® WIRING HARNESS

The heart of this drop-in prewired harness for SG®-style guitars is our custom designed 500K potentiometer. First introduced over 45 years ago, we used a 10-step rotary switch to create a taper that works with DiMarzio’s high impedance pickups. It’s neither a linear nor audio taper pot -- it's DiMarzio's custom taper. To further increase reliability, we make the center shaft and threaded parts from solid machined brass instead of cheap castings.

Our kit includes a Switchcraft® right-angle selector switch (with both black and cream tips) and Switchcraft® output jack. DiMarzio wiring harnesses are all hand assembled and tested in the USA using lead free silver solder and the best sound-tested parts. We chose Mod® .022uf oil filed capacitors for their softer, smoother roll off on the tone controls, and we include vintage-style shielded cloth wire.

HSS STRAT^® WITH FIVE-WAY SUPER SWITCH AND 500K POTS

The heart of this drop-in prewired Strat® harness is our custom DiMarzio 5-way Super Switch made by Oak-Grigsby, configured to automatically split the bridge humbucker when combined with the middle pickup (position 2), and to split the neck humbucker when combined with the middle pickup (position 4). By using parallel resistance, the single coil pickups sound like they are connected to a 250K pot, while the humbucker still sees the full resistance of the 500K pot.
