Faith No More will release their first album for 18 years in 2015, according to bassist Billy Gould.

The first taste of the forthcoming DIY release will be unleashed in November as part of the Record Store Day Black Friday event.

Faith No More's last studio effort  was 1997's "Album Of The Year" which was the band's last release before parting ways the following year. A well received reformation in 2009 saw the funk metal pioneers perform at festivals around the world, including UK's Reading and Leeds, yet at the time there was no mention of any new material or album plans.

However, Gould now tells Rolling Stone (via LoudWire): “We’ve been working on this idea for probably a year and a half. I think what we're doing reflects where we've gone since we made our last record. I think this kicks things up a notch.

There's parts that are very powerful and there's parts that have a lot of space. Everything we do, with our chemistry, the way we play – it's always going to sound like us. That makes us feel good. Hopefully it doesn't sound like a bunch of 50-year-old men. Which we are!”

Gould goes on to state that he believes the group are now better than they ever have been, with Jon Hudson in place of classic-era member Jim Martin.

“That was a huge deal – songs that we were really pushing when we wrote them came pretty easily,” he says.

More details regarding the album will be announced in due course.
