Metallica are set to headline Japan'sSummer Sonic Festival, an annualthree-day event held at the same time in both Osaka andChiba.

The LA thrash metal giants issued the following statement:

'The holidays are over and we're gearing up for a busy 2013starting with some additions to the summer tour schedule.

This time it's not the usual European vacation... we're offto Japan for the Summer Sonic Festival!

Look for us as the headliners on Saturday, August 10 inTokyo at the QVC Marine Field and on Sunday, August 11 in Osaka atMaishima Summer Sonic Site.'
