Cort Space G6MS | Review

The mid-priced extended-range market is more competitive than ever, but the Cort G6MS proves that innovation doesn’t have to come with boutique pricing. Designed with the modern player firmly in mind, this headless, multiscale six-string blends forward-thinking ergonomics with the sort of tonal flexibility that today’s progressive, metal and fusion guitarists demand.

First impressions? Sleek. The compact, headless design immediately shifts the balance point closer to the body, resulting in a remarkably comfortable playing experience whether seated or strapped on. There’s a subtle futurism to the G6MS’s aesthetic — understated rather than flashy — and it feels purpose-built rather than gimmicky.

The multiscale fingerboard (25.5"–26.5") is the star of the show. While fanned frets can look intimidating at first glance, the transition is surprisingly natural. Chord work in the lower register benefits from the longer scale’s added tension and clarity, while leads on the treble strings feel slinky and precise. Drop tunings remain articulate and punchy without sacrificing playability — a clear win for modern riff merchants.

Construction-wise, Cort has kept things sensible but effective. The neck profile is slim and fast, catering to technical players without alienating traditionalists. Upper-fret access is unrestricted thanks to the sculpted heel and deep cutaways, encouraging exploratory lead work beyond the 15th fret.

Tonally, the G6MS punches above its weight. The twin humbuckers deliver a tight, focused low end with crisp articulation under gain — exactly what you want for percussive djent riffs or intricate prog lines. Clean tones are surprisingly versatile too, with a glassy snap that responds well to dynamic playing. Coil-split options expand the palette further, making this more than just a metal specialist.

Hardware performance is solid across the board. The headless bridge system keeps tuning stable and string changes straightforward once you’re familiar with the setup. Intonation across the fanned layout feels accurate and dependable, even under aggressive picking.

In a market where extended-range instruments can feel either prohibitively expensive or cheaply executed, the Cort G6MS strikes a compelling middle ground. It’s modern without being alien, technical without being sterile, and versatile enough to handle far more than just down-tuned brutality.

For players curious about multiscale and headless designs — but hesitant to dive straight into boutique territory — this is a smart, gig-ready gateway into the future of guitar design.
